So Famous, Manchester

What 100% halal means in our kitchen

A lot of takeaways offer halal options alongside non-halal items, which means shared surfaces, shared fryers and room for mistakes. We run it differently: one fully halal menu across all 58 dishes, so the question never comes up mid-order. That covers the smashed beef, the buttermilk fried chicken, the turkey bacon on the New Yorker, and everything in between.

The fryer setup

Two details our regulars ask about most, answered plainly:

  • Fries have their own fryer. Our fries are cooked in oil separate from all other products, which is also why they are suitable for vegetarians.
  • The oil is non-GM UK rapeseed oil. It is filtered and changed regularly across all fryers.

Allergens, tracked properly

Halal is one half of trust. The other is knowing exactly what is in your food. We track 13 allergens across the menu, from gluten and milk to sesame and sulphites, and publish the full breakdown on our allergen chart, item by item. If you have an allergy, check the chart and tell us in your order notes, and we will do everything we can to look after you. Official guidance on the regulated allergen list is published by the Food Standards Agency.
